Which Proteins Are Best to Balance Blood Sugar

Protein is essential when balancing blood sugar because protein

sources are complex. They take the body longer to digest. When your

digestion is slowed, it slows the absorption of any carbohydrate-based food

that you had with your meal. So this means that protein slows sugar absorption into the bloodstream, lessening the intensity and frequency of the blood sugar roller coaster.

If you have too much protein, you may have severe sugar cravings because when you have too little, your body wants something. It's wanting the energy, wanting

something from protein, but it can't tell you what, so your body's just going

sugar. So, you could be craving protein if there's too little protein. Also, protein

helps slow the absorption of sugar in the bloodstream. So, if you take it out,

you may have your blood sugar levels all over the place because that

protein's not there to slow down the absorption.

Adding more protein, suitable for people throughout the day, could be a straightforward fix for cravings. And you might go, wow, this is so amazing. And you're like, I know.

So, how can you tell if you have too much or too little protein? Too little protein, you might feel tired, weak, and lazy, and your hair might come out. You might feel spacey, jittery,

ungrounded, unfocused. If you're having too much protein, you might have constipation cause protein-- animal protein in particular-- is not a fiber-heavy food.

So, unless you're eating animal protein with fiber-rich foods, there's not much to help it move through your digestive system efficiently. And it can back things up. Excess protein can cause additional stress on the kidney to filter toxins and waste from that additional protein consumption. So, how do you figure out which type of protein is best for you?
